Frequently Asked Questions

1. Who is private tuition for?

Private tuition can benefit any child from gifted children who need an extra challenge to children who are having difficulties in school.

2. What are the advantages of my child having private tuition?

In mainstream education your child is competing for attention with other children. Sometimes with over thirty in a class. The teacher has to spend an equal time with each child. This means your child can actually receive very little time during the course of a lesson. Private tutoring means more focus and less distraction.
Private tutoring can also enable the child to complete homework with an experienced teacher.

3. How much does private tutoring cost?

My hourly rate is £22 per hour for one child or £32 per hour for two children. This covers my transport costs and the cost of any resources/materials used. I will not tutor more than two children at once due to points made above.

The first session is free and will consist of a meeting to discuss needs and arrangements and some informal assessment to determine areas for development.

4. Where does tutoring take place?

Tutoring must take place at the property of the legal guardian of the child. I also insist that a responsible adult is present at the location. This is for the safety and piece of mind of both parties.

5. Will my child get homework?

This is possible but will depend on individual circumstances. I am aware that your child may well have homework from their school.

6. What subjects do you offer?

I only tutor in mathematics

7. When does the tutoring take place?

I am reasonably flexible regarding times for sessions.
